Who We Are

Appalachian Mountain Community Health Centers (AMCHC) offers accessible, patient-centered care at our six locations throughout Western North Carolina. Our mission is to deliver timely, comprehensive, and quality health services with dignity and respect to WNC residents, regardless of a person’s ability to pay. As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), we build on a 50-year history of growth and sustainability.

By integrating primary care and behavioral health, AMCHC provides “whole person” care, offering one-stop, holistic services including specialized treatment, health education, and community assistance. Our team of providers includes doctors, community health workers, peer support specialists, nursing staff, and Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSWs).

We proudly adjust our patient charges to a sliding scale based on a patient's family size and income. In addition to accepting traditional insurance, we welcome Medicaid and Medicare as well as "self-pay.”

Whether we are greeting new patients at the door, taking weights and vitals, connecting your to community resources, or asking you about your current condition, we embody care. Knowing you are the expert in your own care, we partner with you to help you stay well.

AMCHC receives HHS funding and has Federal PHS deemed status with respect to certain health or health-related claims, including medical malpractice claims, for itself and its covered individuals.
